This resource is meant to address common questions that you may have when recording your answers during a Spark Hire one-way video interview.
What do think time, takes, and time limit mean?
The company you are completing the one-way video interview for can customize the following settings per question:
- Think time: This is how long you'll have to think about your response before needing to record
- Takes: This is how many takes you're allotted to record before needing to submit your response
- Time limit: This is your response's maximum duration, but you don't need to use the full amount of time
You'll be informed of these settings before you start each question.
What happens if I skip a question?
If you use all of your allotted takes for a particular question, you'll see an option to Skip next to the Submit button.
Skipping the question effectively submits a blank response and the company you are completing the one-way video interview will be notified that you skipped the question.
Therefore, don't view the Skip button as the question being optional. Instead, the Skip option should be used as a last resort if you really don't want to submit your recorded video.
Can I redo a question?
The ability to redo a question in a one-way video interview depends on if you have any takes remaining. If you have 0 takes remaining, you do not have the ability to re-record. Make sure you check your take limit before starting each question so you know how many attempts you have.
Can I change answers after I’ve submitted them?
If you submit your video response during a one-way video interview, you are not able to go back and re-do it, even if you had takes remaining when you submitted it.
So, please review your recorded video and ensure you are satisfied before submitting (assuming you have takes remaining).
Does the company see any of my videos before I’ve finished the interview?
No, the company you are doing the one-way video interview for will not see your videos until you've finished the one-way video interview.
Will the company see how many times I’ve attempted a question?

Can Spark Hire help me answer any of the questions?
