Below are commonly asked questions about which devices can be used for a live video interview and if there are any internet requirements.

What if I don’t have a webcam?

If your computer doesn't have a webcam, you can use an iOS or Android mobile device (phone or tablet) to complete your live video interview.

Can I use a mobile device?

Yes, you can complete a live video interview on an iOS or Android mobile device (phone or tablet). Just be sure to use one of the supported browsers for live video interviews.

What if I don't have a computer or compatible mobile device?

If you don't have a computer or compatible mobile device to do your live video interview, we suggest you:

  • Borrow a webcam or mobile device from a friend or family member
  • Contact your public library or workforce development center to see if they have a device you can use

What does my internet connection speed need to be?

A reliable internet connection is important for the best Live Video Interview experience.

We recommend the following connection speeds:

  • Minimum: 2 Mbps upload and 2 Mbps download
  • Recommended: 5 Mbps upload and 5 Mbps download or higher

Meeting the recommended speeds helps provide better video and audio quality while reducing the likelihood of connection issues.

Can I use a mobile hotspot?

Yes. You can use a mobile hotspot to connect to your Live Video Interview.

However, mobile hotspots are often less stable than a wired or traditional Wi-Fi connection. Depending on your cellular signal and network congestion, you may experience:

  • Reduced video or audio quality
  • Temporary connection interruptions
  • Increased latency or lag

Whenever possible, we recommend using a reliable wired or Wi-Fi internet connection instead of a mobile hotspot for the best interview experience.
