If you need more time to complete your one-way video interview—or your interview has already expired—below are steps on how to request a deadline extension.

My one-way video interview already expired

If your one-way video interview link says it has expired, it means the deadline set by the company has passed.

Depending on the settings of the company you're interviewing with, you may be able to request a deadline extension directly on Spark Hire.

Submit a deadline extension request

If you attempt to access a one-way video interview link and see a message with a button to Request extension (see screenshot below), it means that the one-way video interview deadline has passed, but the company will review deadline extension requests.

To submit a deadline extension request, click Request extension. You'll be prompted to specify a reason for your extension request. Please provide as much detail as possible to help the company understand your situation better.

After submitting your request, you will receive a confirmation message indicating that your extension request has been successfully submitted.

Review process

Once submitted, the company you're interviewing with will assess your request and make a decision based on your provided reason and other relevant factors.

Once a decision has been made regarding your extension request, you will receive an email notification informing you of the outcome.

  • If your request is denied or if the company is no longer accepting submissions for the job, the email will provide you with relevant information.
  • If your request is approved, the email will include the new deadline for completing your one-way video interview.

Please keep in mind that there are no guarantees the company you're interviewing with will permit a deadline extension.

In addition, since Spark Hire just provides the software platform, Spark Hire cannot advise on or make any decisions regarding one-way video interview deadline extensions.

What if my one-way video interview is expired, but there's no option to request a deadline extension?

If your one-way video interview is expired, but there's no option to request a deadline extension, we recommend you reach out to the company directly to ask for more time to complete your one-way video interview.

I don't think I'll finish before the deadline

If your one-way video interview hasn't expired yet, but you know you won't be able to complete it before the deadline, we recommend contacting the company you're interviewing with as soon as possible.

Only the company, not Spark Hire, can decide whether to extend your deadline or provide additional time.
